Lyrics

I got bugs

I got bugs in my room

Bugs in my bed

Bugs in my ears

Their eggs in my head

Bugs in my pockets

Bugs in my shoes

Bugs in the way, I feel about you

Bugs on my window

Trying to get in

They don't go nowhere

Waiting, waiting...

Bugs on my ceiling

Crowded the floor

Standing, sitting, kneeling...

A few block the door

And now the questions:

Do I kill them?

Become their friend?

Do I eat them?

Raw or well done?

Do I trick them?

I don't think they're that dumb

Do I join them?

Looks like that's the one

I got bugs on my skin

Tickle my nose, yeah

I let it happen again

They're always takin' over

I see they surround me, I see...

See them deciding my fate

Oh, that which was once...was once up to me...

Now it's too late

I got bugs in my room...one on one

That's when I had a chance

I'll just stop now

I'll become naked

And with them...I'll become one

Story

We don't remember how we ever came up with the idea to do a jazzy rock version of Pearl Jam’s obscure accordion experiment “Bugs”... But while “Bugs” for Pearl Jam is just one of the oddities on ‘Vitalogy’, it snuggly fits into our oeuvre where it doesn’t seem particularly weird at all. “Bugs” paints a satirical picture of a person’s life being taken over by bugs - we wonder if this is the scenario that people who maniacally try to keep all life out of their pristine homes are afraid of…? If you don't instantly kill the bugs they'll take over your life?! Cohabitation with non-human beings is a recurring theme on our EP "Mold" - we are interested in the fears that lie beneath the need to keep everything out of your home and this idea of loss of control definitely seems to form a part of these fears.

We live in a 200 year old cottage with cracks everywhere, so there is a lot of coming and going of all kinds of beings - bugs, spiders, flies, moths, slugs... None of them have caused any issues for us at all. We think that part of why our house is such a safe and peaceful place, both for us and for our friends, is because of this vibe of "everyone is welcome here"!
