Lyrics

Tonight the slugs are out again

They slither through my living room

They’re welcome here at 2am

I give them lettuce from my bread!

You fuckwit think my head is sick

But you put out the slug pellets

The slugs were here before you, bitch

You’re head’s full of shit, full of shit!

Leopard slugs under my floorboards

Leopard slugs - I piss on your pellets

Leopard slugs - I give them my lettuce

Leopard slugs - and then I go to sleep.

They slither through my living room

They’re welcome here at 2am

I give them lettuce from my bread!

You fuckwit think my head is sick

But you put out the slug pellets

The slugs were here before you, bitch

You’re head’s full of shit, head’s full of shit!

Leopard slugs under my floorboards

Leopard slugs - I piss on your pellets

Leopard slugs - you poor little puppet

Leopard slugs - and then I go to sleep.

You’re all out of harmony

You’re trapped in the anthropocene

You’re disconnected

You’re the pest cuz you’re so mean!

Leopard slugs under my floorboards

Leopard slugs - I piss on your pellets

Leopard slugs - I give them my lettuce

Leopard slugs - and then I go to sleep.

Story

The only song on the EP with explicit, non-radio-compatible lyrics, it’s an angry outburst in defense of slugs. The Lürxx wrote it about the slugs that regularly visit their living room, obviously causing no trouble at all. Slug-pellett-using neighbors are in for a shit storm as the band reminds them that the slugs were here long before them and that mean humans are the real “pest”. If you listen closely, you’ll catch some nods to fellow LA punk rockers X.

"Mold" deals a lot with the concept of cohabitation of different species. It used to be very normal to share your living spaces with all sorts of creatures; only relatively recently the concept of a "pristine" home has become the norm. A place where humans control every aspect, where no natural flow is allowed. What does this attitude do to people's minds? What are the fears that compel people to shut themselves in hermetically sealed, sanitized boxes?

We live in a 200 year old cottage, lots of cracks everywhere, lots of beings sharing our living space: spiders, moths, flies, bugs... and slugs! The slugs live under the floorboards and come out mostly late at night to cruise around the living room for a bit. We discovered that they like cat food better than lettuce, so we feed them cat food. And we often give them a wash, too, because slugs that live in houses tend to have more slug mites - they tolerate these mites well in low numbers but too many can weaken their immune system, so washing them off is like a spa treatment!
