apple pie

Lyrics
Down the street at Big Ernie's garage
My old man is fixing cars
In front of the TV then at night
I tell him things at school ain't right
"The problem, boy, 's your attitude"
He's staring at his wrench
"It's, like, you need some different lube
And then your engine hums again!"
You don't understand
I never wanna be like you
To you I'm just some pick-up truck
I wish that you would just shut up
I wanna get away from here
My brother works from 9 - 4
At Mr. Peter's hardware store
Just waiting for the day to end
To hang out with his loser friends
I went to him the other day
I told him: "I can't talk to Pop."
He told me: "It'll be ok
You gotta keep cool just like this Bud!"
You don't understand
I never wanna be like you
To you I'm just a can of beer
I sure expected more from you
I gotta get away from here
Day in and day out as years go by
Mom is baking apple pie
Her only purpose seems to be
To serve my dad like he was three
When I tell her I'm on a low
She calls out of the kitchen odour
"There's something missing in your dough
Try find your personal baking soda!"
You don't understand
I never wanna be like you
To you I'm just like apple pie
My real emotions pass you by
I wanna get away from here
Wanna, gotta, gonna
Wanna, gotta, gonna
Wanna, gotta, gonna
Story
We wrote the lyrics back in 1999 but never ended up putting music to them - we always envisioned a kind of dirty country-blues-punk-type thing but were unable to produce it at the time!

Then, suddenly, in 2021, it worked and we smashed it! We recorded this song in our little home studio and we think that this creates a great authentic low-fi sound!
Liner notes
Xavi: vocals, guitars, drums
Sabú: bass, backing vocals, blues harp, drums, beer

This is what we looked like when we wrote the song.
